We invite you to join our Global Leaders 2024 and take part in an experience you will never forget. ๐ Join SSLC at UBC for Global Leaders Summer Camp!
Students can join for 2-5 weeks and learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while making new friends, exploring UBC campus and Vancouver, and volunteering in the community. Our Global Leaders Program is designed to engage teens with the global community, build awareness about global topics, and help them build confidence in their English skills.
๐ค What are SDGs?
The United Nations General Assembly created the 17 SDGs in 2015, and set a target date of 2030 to meet each goal. All together, the SDGs are a path to improve the environment, global economy, and society as a whole. All goals are interconnected, and we’ve chosen 5 to focus on this summer.
As one of the worldโs most famous cities, Vancouver offers a wealth of sight-seeing options and activities for anyone visiting. Whether it is enjoying the beauty around Stanley Park, taking in the sights, or viewing the city from high atop Grouse Mountain, there is something for everyone to do.
Week #1ย
“Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable”. Learn about sustainability and environmental protection.
Week #2ย
โProtect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity lossโ. Reflect on environmental sustainability in a journal while traveling through the Rocky Mountains.
Week #3
โEnd extreme poverty by 2030โณ. Learn about causes and explore solutions.
Week #4ย
โEnsure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for allโ. Learn about education in other countries and access to education.
Week #5ย
“Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages”. Learn about healthy living, health concerns, and access to medical care.

Located on the west side of Vancouver, the University of British Columbia is one of Canadaโs most famous and recognized universities. Students participating in the Global Leaders program will be studying on campus and living in residence at UBC. In addition to the classrooms and dorms, the vast University campus has so much to offer our Global Leaders students that they will always be busy doing something.
